'Towards A Better Airport Region' Conference

(See also other blog) - - - Friday 31st October 2014 was a conference (link in Dutch) at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam on possible future scenarios for Schiphol Airport and its surroundings. The studies were presented by Podium voor Architectuur Haarlemmermeer, together with Schiphol in cooperation with ETH Zurich. We were able to draw attention to the Starrport. The Starrport became a main discussion point during the pause, and we expect to contact soon various stakeholders. We will keep you updated.

Radio 1 broadcast (NL)

Yesterday morning, a Dutch broadcast portrayed a plan for an airport situated in the North Sea near the coast of the Netherlands. My colleague Guido Hoogenboom called in and could present the Starrport concept for a few minutes.
Later, I wrote a reaction on the website of that radio programme (see link above).

Mijn collega Guido Hoogenboom mocht voor vijf minuten uitleggen welke oplossingen de Starrport voor het milieu biedt. De Amerikaanse eco-designer Jim Starry heeft een vliegveld ontworpen dat (wat we nog niet gepubliceerd hebben, maar in persoonlijke gesprekken met hem aan bod kwam) net zo goed in zee aangelegd kan worden. Over de Starrport hebben we uitgebreid met verschillende instanties (o.a. toen Flyland) en belanghebbenden gesproken. Met de directeur van Lelystad waren er verschillende gesprekken. Een jaar geleden op duurzaamheidsdag 11-11-10 nam de directeur van Schiphol Jos Nijhuis en de directeur van Grounds kennis van deze oplossing. Met de architect Wini Maas die verbonden is aan TU Delft, en eveneens met verschillende personen bij vliegveldenbouwer NACO waren we aan tafel. Het volgende is een uitnodiging aan Jim Starry zodat hij persoonlijk (een deel van) de 123 innovaties die hij ontwikkeld heeft voor de Starrport kan toelichten.

Clean Technology in AWE

Congress in Utrecht (the Netherlands) - planned in 2012 (postponed)

In the new Millennium, unsolved problems of the 20th Century need to be addressed. Limits to growth have become staringly clear. Recycling and a better use of resources will buy us little time. Smarter and nature-inspired technologies will offer a much-anticipated opportunity to create a sustainable and more humane environment.

In this day-long Congress, innovative approaches to clean technology solutions will focus on Air, Water and Earth (AWE). The inspiring work of the American eco-inventor Jim Starry will be presented for the first time exclusively in the Netherlands. His approach will be enhanced and complemented by experts (to be announced). Breakout sessions will invite everyone for personal input and inspirational co-creation. The programme will conclude with a prize draw for the most accessible, practical, affordable and realizable ideas from those present.

The conference with Jim Starry is scheduled during the ISAS-Festival in Amsterdam, now planned in February 2012. We will need some support for this. The most desirable case would be when somewhere in the world, the first Starrport will be realized as a beginning of a new chapter in Aviation & Environment. The benefits are numerous. Built on one third of the land, for half the cost and yielding four times the revenue of a known airport. Plus huge time savings, security enhancements, maximum comfort, minimal environmental impact. Part of an advanced overall concept for rapid individual and public transport.

Website starrportcorp.com almost ready

The StarrPort/s need/s to be built now. Its features are so convincing - saving the environment, saving time, saving space, therefore saving money in cumulative ways, plus less noise as well - that we are in process of setting up a business structure. We will realize the first StarrPort/s somewhere on Earth rather sooner than later. StarrPortCorp will be introduced on the stock exchange. See more at the website.

StarrPort Corp announced

With my business partner Emile van Essen, I participated in a day on Aviation and Environment in Geneva, organized by ATAG Air Transport Action Group in March. We attended a pre-presentation of the website http://www.enviro.aero which is in the air by now (end of May 07). We were able to represent once more the StarrPort and to draw attention and excitement to its unique environmentally-friendlier features. By passing out leaflets and flyers, we had a lot of interesting personal talks. For the first time, our financial concept for StarrPort Corp (under construction) was presented.

We plan to publish on the website http://starrportcorp.com (in preparation) all of Jim Starry's 123 patent-pending features of the StarrPort, with a basic description accessible freely to everyone. When the patents will be applied, of course a negotiatiable fee will be applicable. This should be no point because every patent helps to save a massive amount of money, and space, and time, and harmful emissions, etc.

The patents which are already applied (un)knowingly or partially in many places, will have to be updated. The maximum benefit, optimized for specific circumstances, will be achieved in consulting the inventor himself, Jim Starry.

Meeting in University of NC

Jim Starry's presentation at the University of North Carolina did happen indeed. Here is a link to the announcement:

Some 50 students were present, and most probably, something valueable will come out of this first contact. As a first result, Jim Starry and John Kasarda plan to write together articles in magazines and such.

USA Today cover story

On Monday, the biggest newspaper of the States, USA Today, brought a cover story titled: 'Concern grows over jet-caused pollution' with Jim Starry mentioned under the sub-headline 'No easy solutions'. John Kasarda with his Aerotropolis 'Airports as Cities' concept is also mentioned. I am proud to tell here that when I read the Fast Company article in July/August 06 'Rise of the Aerotropolis' - see http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/107/aerotropolis.html - I tried to connect John Kasarda with Jim Starry. After some hiccups, happily this happened, and the new year could see the beginning of a promising match. Stay tuned.

New USA Today article on Mon 18 Dec

I was just informed that the new article(series) in USA Today by Gary Stoller, where Jim Starry is mentioned again, will be published on Monday 18th December '06, and outside the USA on Tuesday. - Watch the front page, or if some breaking news should occur, the Money section.

StarrPort

We promote the American inventor Jim Starry and his StarrPort. This 'Green Airport' has an incline to gently stop a landing airplane. The terminal is under the tarmac, no taxiing is needed. When the airplane leaves, it is accellerating on a decline. This concept saves 1.000 gallons of fuel with every flight, one million gallons of fuel at an average airport every day! Less noise, much less pollution and huge savings in travelling distances at the airport.
